Job Description

Outpatient Clinical Lead

Location: Chicago, IL - Englewood neighborhood
Work Setting: On-site— Outpatient behavioral health clinic

Lead a Clinical Team That Helps Clients Create Meaningful, Lasting Change

Blue Kite Wellness provides accessible, compassionate, individualized, and holistic mental health services to children, teens, adults, and families. We are seeking an Outpatient Clinical Supervisor to provide clinical leadership and day-to-day oversight at the Blue Kite Wellness outpatient location.

The Outpatient Clinical Lead combines direct clinical practice with staff supervision, quality oversight, site leadership, and operational coordination. This position maintains an outpatient therapy caseload while supporting clinicians, interns, and other team members in delivering high-quality, ethical, and compliant care.

As the primary on-site leader, the Clinical Lead helps create a positive and accountable workplace culture while supporting provider capacity, clinician utilization, referral development, and site growth. The balance between direct clinical care and leadership responsibilities will evolve as the location and clinical team grow.

What You’ll Do

  • Maintain an active outpatient therapy caseload in accordance with organizational expectations.

  • Provide clinical supervision to assigned therapists and interns as permitted by licensure.

  • Support employees with complex cases, clinical concerns, crisis situations, treatment planning, and higher-risk client needs.

  • Review clinical documentation, treatment plans, and other client records for quality, medical necessity, completeness, and compliance.

  • Conduct periodic chart reviews and provide timely coaching, feedback, or corrective guidance when concerns are identified.

  • Serve as the primary on-site clinical and day-to-day leader for the assigned outpatient location.

  • Promote employee accountability related to attendance, professionalism, scheduling, productivity, documentation, and adherence to organizational policies.

  • Coordinate daily site workflow and help resolve clinical, operational, staffing, safety, or facility concerns.

  • Support the onboarding, orientation, integration, and continued professional development of clinicians and interns.

  • Monitor provider utilization, caseload growth, employee performance, retention, and progress toward site-capacity goals.

  • Participate in clinician recruitment, interviewing, performance evaluations, coaching, and performance-improvement efforts.

  • Support local marketing, community outreach, referral development, and other initiatives that promote sustainable site growth.
  • Partner with Clinical Leadership, Operations, Human Resources, Intake and Scheduling, Billing, Engagement, and other departments to support effective site operations.
  • Ensure employees maintain required credentials, training, competencies, and qualifications for their assigned roles.
  • Identify and escalate significant clinical, safety, compliance, staffing, or operational concerns and participate in appropriate resolution and follow-up.

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in counseling, social work, marriage and family therapy, psychology, or a related behavioral health field from an accredited institution.
  • Active Illinois licensure as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.
  • Licensure must remain in good standing, and the candidate must meet all applicable requirements to provide clinical supervision within the scope of the license.
  • At least three years of progressively responsible experience providing outpatient behavioral health services.
  • Strong clinical judgment and the ability to support complex cases, crisis situations, treatment planning, and higher-risk client needs.
  • Ability to maintain a clinical caseload while providing supervision and managing day-to-day site responsibilities.
  • Working knowledge of private insurance and Medicaid documentation requirements, medical necessity, clinical and ethical standards, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong leadership, communication, coaching, organization, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to provide supportive and corrective feedback, promote accountability, and address employee performance or workflow concerns appropriately.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across clinical, administrative, operational, and revenue-cycle departments.
  • Ability to maintain an active and consistent on-site leadership presence during established working hours.
  • Ability to occasionally travel to other Blue Kite Wellness locations or attend company meetings, training, recruitment activities, and community events.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience providing clinical supervision or leading therapists, interns, or multidisciplinary behavioral health teams.
  • Experience with site leadership, staff development, clinical operations, or behavioral health program management.
  • Experience conducting chart reviews, monitoring clinical quality, supporting crisis response, or providing performance coaching.
  • Experience supporting clinician utilization, caseload development, referral growth, recruitment, or quality-improvement initiatives.

Work Setting and Schedule

This is a full-time, on-site position with a typical Monday-through-Friday schedule during daytime business hours, 8:00am-5:00pm. Occasional local travel may be required for in-person team meetings, client-related meetings, training, or other program needs. The position may also require limited after-hours availability to address urgent employee matters, provide crisis consultation, or support time-sensitive needs.

Compensation and Work Structure

  • Salary: $75,000-$85,000 per year.

Placement within the applicable compensation range is based on experience, licensure, credentials, and overall qualifications. Reimbursable mileage is paid at the current IRS standard mileage rate.
